ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS
BRENT A. BAMBIC
Executive Producer/Director/ Writer
 |
A native Southern Californian,
Brent Bambic, 33, studied film and literature at UCLA and American
Film Institute, among other prestigious institutions, and began
his professional career as a screenwriter. Bambic has sold two screenplays,
an adaptation of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "The
Zephyr Trophy" and wrote and directed the short film "Beelzebub."
Later he gained production experience through staff positions at
Ridley Scotts Scott Free and TriCoast Studios. He subsequently
produced and directed "Runaways" through his own Stronghold
Productions.
Bambic began writing the screenplay
for "Runaways" over a decade ago, drawing inspiration
from the life of one of his friends. When years later he started
volunteering his services to a Catholic Detention Ministry and working
with troubled teens, he returned to the screenplay, committed to
telling a story that would heighten public awareness of the growing
social epidemic of teenage runaways. Adds Bambic, "When I started
to
|
research the topic and conduct interviews
with runaway kids, I was overwhelmed. We all know that the homeless population
continues to grow, but few realize that children under 18 make up 27%
of its base. So many runaway teenagers are fleeing some sort of abusive
household and many have lost all hope.".
ETHAN BLACK
Producer
Under the auspices of his Wonderland Productions, Ethan Black produces
and directs industrials, commercials, music videos, television pilots
and modestly priced independent features. Madonnas record label,
Maverick, has utilized his services for many of its artists videos,
and he counts IBM, Coke and Wella/Paul Sebastian among his corporate clients.
Additionally, he has held executive positions at Warner Bros. Television,
Saban and Film Syndicate (Fox Sports) and is currently working with Look
Effects Inc. on the mystical adventure childrens series Majestan.
A native New Yorker and a graduate of Hunter College with a degree in
Financing, Black prepared to become a stock broker but relocated to Los
Angeles five years ago to pursue an acting career. He gained his Screen
Actors Guild card appearing opposite Tiger Woods in a Nike commercial
and went to accrue such credits as the NBC-TV mini-series Bella
Mafia and the feature film The Good Life. To create
a strong role for himself as an actor, he decided in 1997 to write and
produce a short movie, True Crime, which succeeded in earning
attention at film festivals and calling attention to his skills at producing.
He subsequently launched Wonderland Productions, co-producing such features
as Beyond the Day with Joe Mantegna for LionŐs Gate, Lord,
Room Tone, Sex, Lies and Repetition and The
Underground World of Johnny Lane.
Always looking for his next project to produce, Black reads five to seven
scripts a week and the screenplay for Runaways caught his
eye. He had been exploring filming a documentary on homeless children,
interested in the interplay between parents and runaway youths, and as
Runaways addressed issues he wished to explore, he committed
to the film.
